One Room Challenge: Week 7 - Finishing Touches

Phew… this week has been a whirlwind. I’ll admit I’ve fallen behind this week but I think we’re still on track for the revel next week. I’ve been working on adding finishing touches to the space - art, styling the dressers, etc. I’ll be creating some art over the next few days, as well as finally priming and repainting the back of Aaron’s door (this has been the biggest annoyance throughout this bedroom makeover. Picture peeling paint and chips of paint all over the floor at all times).

I’ve been slowly adding elements back into the room as I feel they’re needed, which I think is such a good way to quickly declutter a space and reanalyze what’s working for your family. If I hadn’t removed everything from the walls and surfaces and lived with it for a few weeks, I think my tendency would have been to just return a lot of pieces to their original spots simply because that’s where my eyes are used to seeing them. Letting the room breathe has allowed me to see things with new eyes and I’m so happy with how things are coming together now.

This shadow frame is one of my favorite ways to display my kid’s art. It’s magnetic with a cork board backer, so I’m able to pin up the art they’re most proud of as they make it. It’s easy to switch out and the kids feel so special when their art gets “framed”. I have one in Chloe’s room as well. It also keeps clutter off the fridge, which is probably my favorite part, haha.

Don’t forget to check the One Room Challenge Blog to see what all the other guest participants are up to. It’s been so fun to see the different room designs.
